HELP CENTER>EDITING A BOOK

Editing a Book

You can edit most book details after creation, but some fields become locked at certain points in the publishing process.

Fields That Can Never Be Changed

The following fields are permanent once you create the book:

  • Title
  • ISBN
  • Series Name
  • Series Number
  • Edition Number

After Approving the Digital Preview

Once you approve the digital preview, print specifications are locked. This includes trim size, paper type, binding type, interior color, and laminate finish. This is because your files have been prepared for printing with those specific settings. Page count is the exception, and you can still change it.

Page Count Changes

You can change the page count to any number your binding type allows, on any book, at any point. Saving the change resets your interior and cover files, so you will upload both again and approve a new digital preview. A book that is for sale comes off the store until you do.

Save the new page count before you upload the matching files. See Changing Your Page Count for the whole sequence.

What If I Need to Change Locked Fields?

If you need to change locked metadata, you will need to unpublish the book and create a new one with the correct information. See the Locked Metadata article for details.
