Understanding Book Statuses
Each book on your Books page displays a status badge indicating where it is in the publishing process. Here is what each status means.
Draft
The book has been created but no files have been uploaded yet. Upload your cover and interior files on the Print Files tab to move forward.
In Review
One or more files have been uploaded and our team is reviewing them. Review time varies based on our current workload. You do not need to take any action while files are in review.
Needs Attention
One or more files have been rejected and need to be corrected. Go to the Print Files tab to see the rejection reason. Fix the issues and upload new files.
Preorder
Your book is approved, listed for sale, and available for preorder. The publication date is in the future. Your book will become available for purchase on the publication date.
Published
Your book is live and available for purchase. The publication date has passed and distribution is enabled.
Unpublished
The book has been unpublished and is no longer available for sale or distribution. Unpublished books appear grayed out on the Books page and cannot be edited.
Publishing Timeline
When you open a book, the Edit page shows a progress timeline at the top. The timeline tracks each step in the publishing process:
- 1. Book Created – Your book entry exists
- 2. Cover Uploaded / Interior Uploaded – Files have been submitted for review
- 3. Cover Approved / Interior Approved – Files pass review (or show an X if rejected)
- 4. Digital Preview Created – A preview PDF has been generated for your review
- 5. Digital Preview Approved – You have approved how the book will look
- 6. Preorder Live – Your book is listed and available for preorder (if the publication date is in the future)
- 7. For Sale – Your book is available for purchase
Completed steps show a green checkmark. The current step pulses to indicate where you are in the process. If distribution is not enabled, the Preorder Live and For Sale steps appear disabled.
